NCACH awards $779,800 to projects to improve health in North Central Washington through community investment process

December 10, 2020 – The North Central Accountable Community of Health (NCACH) awarded $485,000.00 in funding for local projects that support health and wellness initiatives across North Central Washington on Monday, December 7. This funding, called Coalitions for Health Improvement (CHI) Community Initiatives Funding, is made possible by NCACH through a statewide initiative, called the Medicaid Transformation.The funded projects include:

  • $6,000 to Link Transit to support the development of a train-the-trainer program for visually impaired transit riders
  • $6,285 to Wenatchee River Institute to install an interpretative StoryWalk® trail in Leavenworth
  • $35,000 to Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho to support integration of behavioral and primary care at their Wenatchee and Moses Lake Health Centers
  • $25,000 to Washington State University Extension – Douglas County to implement diabetes prevention programming for at-risk groups
  • $7,000 to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Chelan-Douglas for additional peer support groups and education programs
  • $24,994 to The Brave Warrior Project to enhance and expand their Parent to Parent program, which provides support to families with neuro-diverse children
  • $5,210 to the Little Essentials Pantry Coalition to expand their network of food and essentials pantries for community members in need
  • $150,000 to The Hope Agency Youth and Family Services to support social-emotional growth and resiliency skill development through partnerships and programming for local youth
  • $25,000 to Family Services of Grant County to provide evidence-based resiliency programming for children and their caregivers throughout Grant County
  • $25,000 to North Central Educational Service District to implement a mentorship program for school nurses throughout the region
  • $50,000 to Cashmere Community Market to fund a new farmer’s market serving Cashmere and the greater community
  • $6,700 to Cascade Medical for suicide prevention training and mental health screenings for students in Cascade School District
  • $50,000 to North Valley Hospital to implement a trauma-informed employment program for local students who wish to pursue careers with North Valley Hospital
