Land Acknowledgement
Thriving Together NCW acknowledges that the region it serves is on the traditional lands of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, both past and present.
The traditional territories of the Colville Tribes extend across North Central and Eastern Washington and into portions of British Columbia, Oregon and Idaho. There are 12 bands that make up the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation which include the Lakes, Colville, Okanogan, Moses-Columbia, Wenatchi, Entiat, Chelan, Methow, Nespelem, San Poil, Chief Joseph Band of Nez Perce and Palus.
We offer this land acknowledgement as a commitment to amplifying Indigenous voices and recognizing the harm done to them as a people. We encourage all to learn about the Indigenous Peoples of the place you now call home.
Our History
Accountable Communities of Health (ACHs)
Washington State launched Accountable Communities of Health to promote a healthier Washington through regional decision-making. In 2016, the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and the State of Washington signed a contract to implement a 5-year Medicaid Transformation (also known as a Medicaid waiver.)
In 2022, Washington’s 9 ACHs established the Coalition of Accountable Communities of Health (CASH) to formalize their collaborative efforts with the goal of sharing and learning from each other while working to improve the lives of people in their local communities.
Thriving Together NCW, previously known as North Central Accountable Community of Health (NCACH), formed in 2016 as the region’s designated ACH to improve the health and wellbeing of Chelan, Douglas, Grant and Okanogan residents.
When NCACH was formed, improving health care access and quality of care, along with reducing per capita health care costs in the region, were some of the top priorities. These initiatives were carried out through the Washington State Medicaid Transformation Project.
With the end of the Medicaid waiver approaching, the NCACH Board adopted a revised mission statement and launched a strategy workgroup in late 2020. Building on the momentum of the Medicaid waiver – and hopefully engaging in future waivers – NCACH began to broaden its scope of work to focus on whole person health and health equity for all residents of North Central Washington.
We’ve expanded our focus
In early 2023, the Governing Board of NCACH voted to approve the organization’s new name, Thriving Together NCW. The rebrand more accurately reflects the work being done to improve the lives of residents across the region by investing in programs and systems that assist individuals in reaching their full health potential.
